The long awaited, twice delayed, original IP movie starring Ryan Reynolds was well worth the wait for theatre audiences. With enough Easter eggs(both obvious and subtle) to satisfy any nerd? Free Guy is the must watch blockbuster of the year
Free Guy asks the question that many more serious sci-fi pieces have asked āwhat is life?ā Is it being human? Can an artificial intelligence ever be truly alive? If that daunts you donāt worry, unlike others that ask the question, Free Guy doesnāt really want you to dwell on it
Instead, Free Guy is a romp. A good time with a heartfelt love story mixed with Ryan Reynolds being Ryan Reynolds. Guy is a video game non-playable character (NPC) that breaks programming, essentially becoming āalive.ā
Guy, Millie (a player of the game played by Jodie Comer) and Keys (a developer played by Joe Keery) must work together to keep mega-corpo douchebag Antwan (Taika Waititi) from destroying the game and all its secrets.
The acting in this movie isnāt going to win any Oscars but thatās not why weāre here. Besides everyone in this movie excelled at what they needed to do, especially Guyās side kick, fellow NPC cop Buddy played by Lil Red Howery. The perfect counter to Reynolds
Free Guy is a delightful romp, with a heartfelt story going along side all the computer-generated explosions and nonsense and whacky fun If you havenāt go watch it. Or be cursed.
