The second Shazam movie doesn’t quite have the same appeal as its predecessor but is overall fine for the genre.
The sequel tries to focus on its found family theme but doesn’t quite hit the heart strings as effectively as the first because the surrounding movie tries to be bigger and louder, which is a negative unfortunately
The quips are okay, some good some bad as this genre is wont to do. Zachary Levi is fine, (Chuck is a great show check it out) and Helen Miren and Lucy Liu are big gets for the big bads, but quite frankly… the performances aren’t great.
Personally, I just failed to get hooked into this one. Perhaps it’s genre overload, perhaps it’s because ima boomer and “back in my day these superhero films were great!” But Shazam Fury of the Gods just kinda sits there comfortably as another superhero movie that fails to shine
Shazam Fury of the Gods is completely fine. Not bad, not good, but fails to stand out amongst a very crowded field.
