Good Time (2017) 🌽🌽🌽🍿

A dirty, greasy, frantic all-night odyssey, everyone in Good Time is in for a bad time.

Before they brought you Uncut Gems, the Safdie brothers brought the world a good time. There are striking similarities between the two films with feel, look, cinematography. Uncut Gems does a better job of keeping the viewer absorbed with a frantic pace But this is still frantic

Robert Pattinson plays the scumbag quite perfectly. His character Connie is a conman. Yupp. Connie the conman. The lies are ever flowing as he desperately tries to prevent his downfall.

He takes advantage of his brother. But spends the whole movie trying to get his brother back. But. He’s still scum and the movie constantly reminds you of that. Don’t pity the Pattinson

Good Time’s biggest strength is it’s cinematography. I’m not qualified enough to go into depth but often the scrawling New York night provides the perfect picture. Dark at the right times, the lighting and shots really make this movie feel greasy and sleazy.

Good Time is most certainly not a Good Time. It’s dirty. It’s gritty. I wish the pace was a little more frantic as advertised. But if you like the style of Uncut Gems, Good Time is worth a watch
