The Whale (2022) 🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽

A simple, one location character focused narrative that will not leave a dry eye in audience thanks to Brendan Fraser’s brilliant lead performance that deserves every single award possible for an actor. The Whale moves the heart.

Every actor delivers a very good performance for their perspective roles but the star of our show is the revitalized Brendan Fraser and I cannot emphasize enough just how brilliant he is in this film. Moved to instant tears by his deliveries of two particular lines.

Darren Aronofsky has delivered some serious winners, and The Whale belongs near the top of his portfolio. It’s brilliantly beautiful in its simplicity and its emphasize on emotion, empathy, forgiveness, mistakes, and honesty. A simplicity and focus this reviewer lacks, clearly

The Whale is hard to watch, but harder to look away. It’s uncomfortable, it’s triggering. It’s raw.

It’s one of the most moving pieces of cinema I’ve ever seen.

If I had watched this last month, it would have immediately been a contender, maybe the winner of the CAFA film of the year
