It’s a charming movie with two artistic youths finding each other and a beautiful blossoming friendship emerges. Josh Hutcherson and AnnaSophia Robb have great chemistry.
One thing that bugged me was often times the ADR was not well mixed. A bit clunky. Took me out of a few moments. Story wise there was a couple of things that were revealed, and dismissed and it felt a bit weird. And I wish there was more the the children’s fantasy world!
But those flaws were minor and don’t detract from an overall lovely story… ya know until it punches you in the face. SPOILER The bright shining light of this movie, Leslie, DIES. Our protagonist didn’t invite his friend out to the museum and then she died.
Pursue your passions, hold on to that spark of life and embrace whimsy. That’s what I took away from this movie. Life is fleeting and precious so live purely in pursuit of happiness and joy. And this movie was for CHILDREN
