An interesting idea that falls flat at times, Choose or Die is a decent horror/thriller with its merits and flaws.
The movie starts with a solid premise, and ālevel oneā definitely works. The tension and confusion is there. But as the movie progresses to its 2nd and 3rd act, it loses the plot. The evil device feels less sinister and the reveal is a bit⦠weak?
Choose or Die I feel gets caught up in the idea of being a franchise instead of delivering one solid horror movie. Itās so close, but opening acts feel very different in tone from the following acts and it loses a bit of what had me in suspense.
My final two thoughts, the sound design is just awful. Dreadful. I get the idea, but itās not unsettling, or scary just painful. The 80ās synth/techno computer vibe could have been executed better. Not by me Iām just an ear of corn with opinions and no talent. But by human.
The acting is actually pretty darn solid. A praise-worthy performance from our lead Lola Evans and supporting role from Asa Butterfield keep the viewer invested in their story arc.
Choose or Die was close to being darn good, but strayed from its path and ends up in the middle of the road.
