A good ârequelâ that will please all fans of the franchise, Scream (2022) follows all the rules of making a ârequelâ and a scream movie to satisfy everyone looking to hit all the vitals of a slasher.
Scream introduces us to a new and (mostly) compelling cast of teenagers once again being terrorized by Ghostface which means once again someone is obsessed with the stories. Which is fine, itâs why weâre here! This time the hook is just different enough to feel fresh-ish
There are couple of big immersion breaking moments, that even felt out of place in a genre where you accept things will be askew, but it does not take enough away to make this unenjoyable. Fans of the franchise will be pleased⌠I think?
Personally, the âbig shocksâ werenât actually shocking and an astute viewer could see them coming. HOWEVER the impact is still felt so the predictability wasnât an issue except⌠I felt it was too easy to identify who Ghostface was this time around. But maybe thatâs just me.
Overall this is a good horror movie and a solid addition to the franchise. If this team decides to make more with its new cast and new writing team there is potential and material to be had. Just make sure you follow the rules, team.
